And now it is going to be torn down and something new put up. I feel a bit sad. I decided to look it up yesterday on the county pages to find out something about it. You can go to this Clark County page and type in any address and find out things.
This particular house was built in 1922! I knew it was old but I did not realize it was that old! 6204 NE HAZEL DELL AVE, VANCOUVER, WA 98665
Now it seems even more of a loss. History was living there on our block and I didn’t know it.
This morning I walked up and took some pictures, a sort of good-bye to lives lived there and memories stored there and life moves on. It won’t be long I suppose before town houses are built there or an apartment complex. The apple tree will be cut down and perhaps even the gigantic fir tree will crash to the ground after chainsaw blades cut into its base. Sad, sad, sad.
I wish I could hold on to everything forever. Every moment crystalize into some sort of immortality with never a good-bye. Of course there would have to be some sort of roadway into tomorrow’s of course – I wouldn’t want to be stuck in the past like a prehistoric bug cemented in fossilized sap but still would be nice to hit replay whenever one wanted and zip back into yesterday and breathe in those moments now and then.
These pictures will be my back in time tunnel of this day – before the bulldozers come.
